Frequently Asked Questions About Pre-Owned Harley-Davidson®

You may have a lot of questions before starting to even think about buying a pre-owned Harley-Davidson®, and you should! Buying a new bike is a fairly simple process because you know the bike is ready to hit the streets after you purchase it. Buying a pre-owned can be a little trickier though because of everything that could go wrong. You have to think about how the previous owner cared for the bike, normal wear and tear, and personally about your riding level and style. Below are some frequently asked questions we get from riders coming to Rommel Harley-Davidson® Annapolis to buy a pre-owned Harley-Davidson® from us to help alleviate some of the stress and turn you onto new ideas when shopping.

Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before Buying What is your budget?

Having this figured out will help you shop quicker and be able to make better decisions. Shopping outside of your price range when buying pre-owned Harley-Davidson®’s can be even more costly down the road if you are not careful. Be sure to include potential costs outside of the bike itself such as new gear needed to ride safely, customization you wish to add to the bike, and parts that may need to be purchased. Often times this is not accounted for and that pushes the riders drive time back even further although they own the bike, which is a real bummer.

How are you getting the motorcycle home?

Although, you may think you’re only going to be shopping around when you get to Rommel Harley-Davidson® Annapolis, you also may end finding the perfect bike of your dreams. Bringing a truck or trailer is always a good idea when scoping out pre-owned Harley-Davidson®’s. You could always bring a friend as well and if the bike is ready to ride, you can drive it home yourself.

Are you licensed to ride?

This may seem like a silly question, but if you are not licensed, it is best to either hold off on purchasing or bringing a licensed friend with you. This way, your friend can test the pre-owned Harley-Davidson®. It is up to you to trust their opinion on handling and overall feel for the bike itself. We will not allow unlicensed customers to test drive our pre-owned inventory.

Can I buy online?

While we do provide our inventory online for you to shop and offer our Get A Quote tool, you will have to physically come to the store to purchase. If you see something you like online, give us a call to see if we still have it onsite and we would also be happy to answer any questions you may have. There is also an option to chat with a team member online. We may also have some new bikes in that aren’t currently online.

Do I need to pay the full price of the pre-owned Harley-Davidson®?

We have an excellent sales and finance team that will help with all of the monetary portions of the transaction and they will also be able to help get you financed. We, of course, take payments in full if that is how you wish to take care of the transaction. You can also get a quote online using our finance tools.

Can I bring another professional to inspect the motorcycle?

Yes! We encourage it! If you don’t feel comfortable with your knowledge about bikes and want to bring a friend or other professional service person, please feel free to have them inspect the pre-owned Harley-Davidson® you are thinking or purchasing. Our service team is also happy to help by explaining everything we look for in bikes and help expand your knowledge on the bike before purchase as well. It is in our best interest to help educate as we will hopefully be sharing the road with you soon!

Why should I buy a pre-owned Harley-Davidson®?

Buying a pre-owned Harley-Davidson® is a great idea for first-time buyers. With a pre-owned or “learner” bike you are able to spend far less money to help figure out your riding style and motorcycle model you are the most comfortable with. Our team is happy to help figure this out with you in a test drive, but why spend more money than needed on a bike you aren’t sure is going to be the perfect fit? Also, you’re going to drop the bike every so often once you start riding, it happens. You will be glad you spent less putting those dents and dings on a pre-owned instead of a brand new Harley.
